Online Courses and Programs: DLIFLC students may enroll in any of Foothill's online courses. Currently, Foothill College offers an online Associate’s degree in General Studies/Social Science Major that is completely transferable. The only course that is not offered online is a science lab; students can take it at an accredited institution. Over seventy course sections are offered online (via the Internet or email) every quarter, covering subjects in all areas required by DLIFLC: English, Natural Science, Social Science, Technology, and Mathematics. Students must have reliable access to the Internet and an email account to effectively complete required coursework.

Admission and Registration: DLIFLC students will follow the admission procedures required by all prospective Foothill College students. Textbook Ordering: Foothill College offers students online book ordering through an external service. Materials are shipped within 24-36 hours of order; however, delivery time would depend on the schedule of the APO to which the books and materials were shipped.

Teaching Assistance and Tutoring: Many Foothill College instructors hire teaching assistants to aid them with online course delivery. Online tutoring, although not currently offered, is a service that our Distance Learning Office is exploring and plans to offer to students in the near future.

Tuition:

As per California AB 1346, all US active duty DLIFLC students (and their dependents) stationed in Monterey, California at the time they start a degree or certificate program are entitled to pay the resident tuition ($7.00 per quarter unit) throughout the time they are in the program, even following transfer out of state.

Note: To pay in-state tuition, a student cannot drop out from Foothill College for more than two consecutive terms, excluding summer term.

Financial Aid:

FHDA agrees to accept DoD tuition assistance programs. In addition, US active duty DLIFLC students, US citizens, or eligible non-citizens registered at Foothill College are eligible for state and federal financial aid. Qualified individuals can apply for CalGrants, Federal Pell Grants, and various Federal Loan programs (Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Stafford Student Loan, and Federal Plus Loan). Applying for financial aid is a simple process; all forms can be accessed and completed online. The Foothill College Financial Aid Division will provide advising to students.

To qualify for financial aid, students must meet the following criteria:

·        Develop an educational plan. Students must consult with a FHDA and DLIFLC counselor and develop an educational plan that is at least two quarters in length and leads to a degree or certificate.

·        Demonstrated financial need. To be eligible for financial aid, a student must be:

Ø      A single person making $12,000 annually or less.

Ø      A married person making less than $32,000 annually.

Individuals who qualify for a Federal Pell Grant can receive as much as $3,800 a year. This figure would cover tuition and books at Foothill College. For individuals whose income is too high, and do not qualify for financial aid, the tuition is still only at the resident rate, which is $7.00 per unit. In addition, tuition assistance is available for active duty personnel.
