4. Genre Exploration: First Pass How do I do the exploration?

task iconTask #4: Genre Exploration: First Pass

You will be exploring the entire landscape of children's literature as you collect books for your annotated bibliography.  Use this task as a "first pass" opportunity to gather some books in each genre. Find a good source for children's books (here's where your librarian can be your best friend) and find an example of each of the genres we have mentioned:

traditional fantasy, modern fantasy, contemporary realistic fiction,  historical fiction, biography, informational books, picture books, and poetry.

Optimally, you will have chosen books which fit within the boundaries of your chosen FOCUS for your Annotated Bibliography (Thus adding eight (the eight genres) titles to your bibliography right off the bat!)

When you have chosen your books, post them under the TASK 4 heading for Genre Exploration.

Remember that it would be ideal IF the books you chose for this genre exploration would ALSO be books you can use in your focused Annotated Bibliography. Then much of your work would be done for that later assignment! However, sometimes it IS difficult to find books in your Anno Bib focus that match all the genres; that's perfectly ok.

How Do I Do the Exploration?

  1. Go to Discussion List, find Task 4 and post your list of book titles and the genre they match.
